FF I WSC Details
December 13, 2000 - 8:50 pm CST Editor: Lazarious
Final Fantasy I was released this past weekend in Japan on the WonderSwan Color. Apparently
there's more changes then just the graphics. Square has actually changed some of the
story line in the game. With the additional dialogue they have made some area's of the story
more clear.
Graphics are also a big improvement from the 8 bit Nintendo graphics. Characters have even
been given extra frames so that they can show more emotion. During battle, enemies are larger
and are rendered better. Spells have also become flashier. With the Final Fantasy Anthology,
Square introduced a "quick save." This would save the game in the Playstation's memory and not
on the memory card. This made saving really fast. Of course you would have to save your game
on the memory card before you shut off the system. This has been brought back to Final
Fantasy I. Another change has to do with shops. You can see which characters can equip a
weapon before you buy it. In the original game, you couldn't tell what weapons characters
could use unless you bought them.
A really annoying feature about the original Final Fantasy was that if you had 2 characters
set to attack one enemy, and the first attack kills the enemy, then the second attack would
result in a miss. Now if an enemy dies, the other character will automatically attack one
of the other enemies on the screen. If you look in the Final Fantasy I section of this site,
you'll see that there was a secret game you could play. This game still exists, but now if
you beat if you're party will earn 10,000 gil. This can be repeated over and over again.
The music of the game was also over hauled. New music tracks have been incorporated into the
game. Another change in battles has to do with the numbers that appear when you or an enemy
is struck. In the original game the numbers appeared in a text box, but with this new release
the numbers just appear above a characters head. This is how it is done in the current FF
games.
