

Final Fantasy I has a total of 64 magic spells, 32 white magic spells and 32 black magic
spells. The spells are divided up into 8 levels, with each level consisting of 4 spells.
Characters that can use magic can only learn a max of 3 spells per level, so make sure you
pick the spells wisely.
The magic system as a whole is set up quite differently then it has in later Final Fantasy
games. Your characters don't just learn magic, you have to buy it from magic shops. Once you
have bought a spell for a character. Characters can use magic spells as many times as they
want to in a battle, there are no mind points in this game like there are in the later ones.

The White Wizard can learn all the white spells and the Black Wizard can learn all the black
spells (with the exception that characters can only learn a max of 3 spells per level).
Other characters classes can also learn magic, but they can't learn all the way up to level 8
spells like the Wizard's. The table bellow shows what level of magic spells the character
classes can learn.

Note: The Fighter and the Thief cannot use magic, they first have to be upgraded to the Knight
